Leading Art Prize Finalists - 1st April 2025

Our table of high-performing finalists is not a competition in itself - more an interesting view of which artists have been universally popular with the judges in 2025. At the top is Lori Pensini, who is equal to Datsun Tran. The other artists on the list are also performing incredibly well.

The following prizes have now announced their 2025 finalists:

Adelaide Park Lands Art Prize, Adelaide Perry Prize for Drawing, Bayside Painting Prize, Blacktown City Art Prize, City of Rockingham Art Prize, Collie Art Prize, Flanagan Art Prize, Gallipoli Art Prize, Glover Prize, Heysen Sculpture Biennial, John Villiers Outback Art Prize, Muswellbrook Art Prize, Nillumbik Prize for Contemporary Art, Queensland Regional Art Awards, Ripper Art Prize, Sorrento Art Prize, St Columba's Art Prize.

Winners 2025

It is one of those strange things where some prizes are slow to announce the winners on their website/Instagram - I don't really get it. But here are the artists we know who have been awarded prizes this year (ordered by last name):

The Art Prizes platform continues to trend positive

We’ve experienced unprecedented growth this year, for which we are very grateful. In this newsletter and on our website, we are promoting 18 call-for-entry campaigns, with two more prizes joining in mid-April—setting a new milestone for promotions from our platform. The first four months of 2025 have been exceptional, as 26 prizes have chosen our platform to connect with you guys - Australian visual artists. This growing momentum reflects the trust the arts community places in our promotional reach and the expanding influence of our platform in the competitive arts prize sector. So thank you to everyone who has supported us.

Stay up to date with call for entries - IOS app

If you want to stay in touch with calls or just look up details about an art prize, the Art Prizes iOS app is available from the Apple store for $14.99 - a one-time fee. It shows prizes calling, metrics on prize winners and finalists, and a notification panel showing you which prizes have just started calling or are closing soon.

October 2025 What a brilliant GIVEAWAY for one of our lucky followers - ONE free entry to the John Villiers Outback Art Prize. Can you support these important regional Australian art prizes and the communities that rely on them? It's a prize held in Winton, Central Queensland, a beautiful part of regional Australia - where daily life is the complete opposite of city life. I went there in 2023 and found it to be amazing. Alongside the community's strong support for the visual arts, Winton also...

September 2025 It's the quiet time for art prize calls right now as you can see by the smaller number of sponsored calls listing. The number of prizes calling at this time of the year is a third of that in the first half of the year. And this year, it was particularly busy for me even though I was travelling overseas for that period. The life of a digital nomad feels more attractive now i see how easy it can be. Anyway, with this quiet spell, I've taken this opportunity to work on new...
